There are various ways you can get involved with SuperCoop. We have our main working groups, where participation counts as a regular shift.

Want to do even more? No problem! You can team up with other members to form working groups to carry out specific projects or achieve goals. Some of these working groups also count as shifts, while in others, participation is on a volunteer basis.

Good to know: The working groups and tasks adapt dynamically to SuperCoop’s development and are updated on an ongoing basis. So just because you start out in a working group doesn't mean you have to stay there forever.

Main Working Groups

To manage the supermarket’s day-to-day operations, we have permanent core work groups. These duties are considered shifts.

Receiving and Stock Management
Olives, granola, toothpaste - during this shift, you’ll get a great overview of our diverse product range. Your main tasks: receiving deliveries, restocking shelves and freezers, and checking best-by dates.

Cashier
You’ll ring up your fellow members’ shopping carts. The best part: You’ll soon become an expert at distinguishing between different types of fruits and vegetables.

Cheese Counter
Do you love cheese? Here, you’ll not only get a good overview of our roughly 35 varieties, but you’ll also enjoy a wonderful aroma during your shift! Your main tasks: cutting, labeling, and restocking cheese.

Welcome Desk
You’ll greet your fellow members at the entrance and check membership numbers. Here, you’ll also interact with visitors and answer questions about SuperCoop.

Cleaning & Tidying Up
The last purchases are being made; the store is about to close. Now it’s your turn:
Sorting deposits, taking out the trash, sweeping, cleaning, and mopping.

Membership Office
Do you enjoy writing emails and working with lists and documents? Then the Membership Office is the right place for you! Here, you’ll be responsible for enrolling and managing new members and handling all administrative tasks related to membership.

Project Working Groups

In addition to the main working groups, there are tasks that don’t come up every day. These activities also count as shifts. You can sign up for them in our online shift system, Tapir, or contact the members in charge.

Welcome Meetings
At the welcome meetings, you can get people excited about SuperCoop and meet lots of new people! You’ll be in charge of organizing the events and will co-host the welcome meetings with another member.

Cooking
Here you can get behind the stove and prepare lunch on Wednesdays. Good to know: Almost every Wednesday, we offer a lunch special in our café corner starting at 12 p. m.

Café Shift
You open and run our café. This includes: selling drinks, making coffee, and serving lunch.

Social Media
You manage SuperCoop’s social media channels and create engaging content for our community. There’s plenty of room for creativity here!

Bread Pickup
On Saturdays at 9 a.m., our bread can be picked up at the Backpfeife bakery on Holzmarkt. If you’d like, you can borrow our SuperCooper cargo bike for this. Afterward, you’ll stock the bread, and soon our store will smell absolutely wonderful!

Newsletter
Do you have a knack for writing and communication? Then this is the right team for you! Here, you’ll be jointly responsible for creating our internal and external newsletters.

IT Team
You’ll develop an ERP solution for the shop to manage inventory, accounting, members, and shifts. You’ll also take care of the website and the wiki.

Accounting
If you like working with numbers, this team is for you. Here, you'll handle the payroll processes.

Volunteer Working Groups

In addition to our shifts, we can also get involved in working groups. A working group is a self-organized group of members who collaborate to achieve specific projects or goals. Working group leaders are responsible for ensuring an efficient flow of information between the working groups and the Executive Board and Advisory Board.

Here’s how it works: For example, let’s say you want to address the issue of food waste at SuperCoop. To do this, you team up with other members who also want to work on this issue. Together, you develop proposed solutions. These are then discussed and voted on in a plenary session.

Procurement
You will research and contact suppliers and wholesalers. You will also work with your team to further develop our procurement guidelines.

Social & Environmental Sustainability
You will monitor and improve SuperCoop’s social and environmental impact.

Event Organization
Do you enjoy organizing? Then you can get involved in planning our SuperCoop festivities and other events.

Data Protection
Here, you’ll ensure that our data is protected and establish the necessary documentation. You’ll also develop our own principles for handling personal data and the tools we use.

Graphic Design
Do you have expertise in graphic design? Create various materials for our communications. These could include posters, flyers, or outdoor signage.

Store Design and Furnishings
Here, you can contribute to the design and furnishing of our supermarket. The focus: design, financing, and zoning.

Organizational Culture
Here, you’ll focus on how we at SuperCoop want to interact and work together.

Recruiting New Members
Your goal: to meet potential members of our SuperCoop and encourage them to join. Especially in Wedding, we want to raise awareness of our vision to attract new members.
